Dream of Flight Scholarship

What is the Dream of Flight Scholarship?

Women Military Aviators (WMA) seeks to preserve, for history, the important role women have played in creating and supporting the American spirit through their contributions to flight, aeronautics and space.

This elite band of women has not only a love of aviation but has put their lives on the line in defense of their country through their military service. WMA is committed to passing this legacy from one generation of women to another and has established an annual scholarship program in support of this commitment. Advocating the love of aviation,

WMA offers an annual scholarship(s) to advance a woman in her pursuit of flight ratings at an accredited institution or FAA approved Part 141 or Part 61 flight school. Over the past 30 years, the scholarship(s) has been given to select candidates so that they may pursue opportunities in aviation.

Each year, the Dream of Flight scholarship(s) is given in recognition of a member of our military community to honor their service or support of women military aviators.

Each applicant should supply - in addition to basic WAI requirements - a narrative addressing the following criteria:
Text Applications are submitted through the Women in Aviation International (WAI) scholarship program.

Form more information please contact Peggy Carnahan: communications@womenmilitaryaviators.org

The scholarship(s) also includes a one-year membership to Women Military Aviators.

Our Scholarship Fund is always in need of donations – big or small.

It is a great way to share our dreams of flight with others. Donate online or contact the WMA Treasurer, Treasurer@womenmilitaryaviators.org to send your financial gift.

Our 2025 Winners

WMA awards a Dream of Flight Scholarship to a woman who dreams of flying, and over the past 30 years this scholarship has been given to select candidates so they may pursue opportunities in aviation.

We dedicate the Dream of Flight scholarship each year to a fallen woman military aviator. This year (2025) we honored the memory of two women military aviators, LCDR Lyndsay Evans, USN, and LT Serena Wileman, USN, who perished October 2024, in an aircraft mishap.
Thanks the generosity of WMA member, Col Kathy Cosand, USAFR (Ret), we are able to award a second scholarship. Kathy is dedicating it in honor of the mothers who have supported us.

Congratulations to this year's winners
