Scholarship Honorees

The legacy continues!!!  The WMA 2008 scholarship was awarded to ENS Mary Ann Forster, USCGR, from Graham, WA. Mary Ann is seeking an Instrument/Commercial rating and is currently enrolled at Avian Aviation in Bremerton, WA, a part 141 flight school.  She has 17 years of military experience and remains committed to serving the Pacific Northwest and her country in the realm of aviation.  She is committed to inspiring others as a Flight Instructor and an auxiliary pilot in support of the US Coast Guard.  As she says, there is an unspoken obligation to those who laid the foundation for me, to pave the road for others to follow.  I not only preach it, I deliver it.

All applicants were evaluated in 5 areas: ambition to further women in aviation, demonstrated persistence, financial need, ability to complete training, and to bring honor to the memory of the woman for whom the scholarship was dedicated.

This year’s scholarship is dedicated not to a single woman, but to all women who have served and continue to serve honorably in Iraq and Afghanistan.
